The study in animal production mainly concerns nutrition with particular reference to the in vitro and in vivo digestive processes of ruminants and the nutritional nutritional characteristics of the forage used in their diet. Part of the research activities are also aimed at evaluating the effects of natural food additives on health and animal productivity.
Morphological and productive characteristics of animal populations, with particular reference to those of local interest and with a reduced population size (cattle, goats, pigs, horses, and small species). The objective is the phenotypic (calculation of growth and lactation curves, calculation of allometric coefficients, evaluation of somatic measures and morphological indices, recording of reproductive efficiency, etc.) and genetic characterization of these populations, in order to obtain elements that can direct their economic use, in the context of a sustainable animal production and in relation to the valorisation of the territory.
