Parma, July 1, 2026 – A new Welcome Point designed for future students: numerous service offices available for information and assistance, serving both Italian and international students. This is the basic concept behind the new Welcome Point at the University of Parma, inaugurated at Piazzale San Francesco 3.

The new Welcome Point was created with the goal of bringing together various offices and resources in a single physical location, thereby offering an easily accessible point of reference for those new to the University. In particular, the office is dedicated to future students and provides information and assistance on enrolment procedures, as well as guiding users toward the University’s and local services, including on non-academic matters (such as finding housing). Currently enrolled students will have access to all the support services offered by the Welcome Point, while for managing their academic careers, they should continue to contact the relevant student registry offices.

““The idea that guided us was to simplify and streamline things as much as possible, creating a welcoming space where new students and future students, in particular, could find a key point of reference—also to spare them the need to travel to different locations on campus and around the city,”, explained the Rector Paolo Martelli. “A first-point-of-contact service, then,” he added, “which, for certain activities, may also serve as a resource for currently enrolled students. We believe this is an important service, one that can be gradually expanded and that should be seen as part of the welcoming efforts to which we have devoted so much attention in recent years.”

“The opening of the new Welcome Point,” noted the Director General Michele Nicolosi “represents a strategic investment in improving services for students. It is a sign of an administration that is evolving: from a focus on compliance to one on value, placing people, staff training, hospitality, support, and increasingly integrated, simple, and community-oriented services at the center.”

Among those attending the inauguration was City Council President Michele Alinovi, representing the City of Parma.

At the welcome desk, students will be able to request general information about enrolment, receive assistance regarding the status of related procedures, and—in the case of future international students or those holding a foreign degree—submit the documentation necessary to complete their enrolment (such as foreign degrees and residence permits). All activities related to managing one’s academic career following enrolment will, however, continue to be handled by the relevant student registry offices, as mentioned.

At the Welcome Point, there will be numerous service counters, each dedicated to a specific topic and target audience. Details are provided below.

  • Freshman Info: for general inquiries about enrolment services and procedures.
  • Admissions Office and Italian Revenue Agency: an integrated assistance program for the University’s international students, providing support with procedures related to immigration, residence permits, tax identification numbers, and the administrative requirements necessary for entry into and residence in Italy.
  • Welcome Office: a reception and orientation office aimed specifically at international students and/or exchange students. It provides support for integrating into university and city life, with information on housing, health assistance, banking services, transportation, and other services useful for your stay in Parma
  • Enrolment office: “Student Registry Office” service desks, organized by field of study and dedicated to assisting with administrative procedures for enrolment, participation in entrance exams, and the evaluation of foreign academic credentials.
  • Student Mobility: two service desks dedicated to incoming and outgoing student mobility, providing support throughout all phases of mobility experiences to and from the University of Parma.

For tuition and the right to education, the Financial Aid Office will continue to operate online as usual.
