Parma, 24 September 2026 – The University of Parma has received an excellent response to the second edition of AnimalConnect, an initiative organised by the Department of Veterinary Science at its Strada del Taglio hub with the aim of fostering direct engagement between the University and the world of work. A careers day designed to learn about, meet professionals and create new opportunities in the veterinary and animal husbandry sectors, aimed primarily at students. The participation and contribution of numerous companies in the sector were fundamental in this regard.
AnimalConnect 2026, co-funded by the Cariparma Foundationas part of the 2026 Events Session, has kicked off with speeches by the Head of the Department of Veterinary Science Andrea Summer and the Student Guidance Officer Clotilde Silvia Cabassi.
“The purpose of Animal Connect – said Director Andrea Summer – is to connect our students in the medical, veterinary and animal husbandry fields with companies and the world of work. Our aim as a university is not only to train the professionals of the future but also to offer them a concrete opportunity to explore the career prospects that companies can provide.”
For students, it was an opportunity to gain a closer insight into the various professional roles within the sector, explore potential career prospects, discover entry-level opportunities and engage directly with professionals and company representatives.
The first part of the event, held in the lecture theatre, where partner organisations had the chance to introduce themselves and outline potential careers within their companies, was followed by a more informal second part, featuring exhibition stands, music and a networking dinner that facilitated direct interaction between students and professionals.
Attendance was excellent once again this year, with around 180 students in the lecture theatre and 470 participants at the networking dinner: confirmation that we have hit the mark by responding to a need felt by students.
